Is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Active Member of several professional Associations and Plastic
Surgery Societies. In 1995 he received his Medical Doctor diploma Magna cum Laude from Ukranian Medical Academy. He completed his 5,5 years training in CraneoMaxilloFacial Surgery and Reconstructive Microsurgery of Head and Neck in the prestigious Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education in Moscow. During these years he also spent several long periods of time in the world leading center of Plastic Surgery – New York City based Institute for Reconstructive Plastic Surgery in the famous NYU Medical Center and Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. After that Dr. Shakhov completed a full year of intense surgical training under the guidance one of the founders of modern Plastic Surgery Prof. Jaime Planas in the “Clinica Planas” in Barcelona (Spain).
